New Delhi, Dec 13: Justice Bela Madhurya Trivedi has been appointed as Chairperson of the Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal on Friday.
Justice Bela M Trivedi is now a sitting Judge of the Supreme Court of India.
The Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal’s Chairperson post was lying vacant for over seven months for which hearing was delayed.
Justice Bela M Trivedi before the current assignements, worked on different posts like Registrar – Vigilance in the HC, Law Secretary in the Government of Gujarat, CBI court judge and Special Judge.
She was elevated as the Judge of Gujarat HC on 17th Feb 2011.
She was transferred to the Rajasthan HC where she worked since June 2011 at the Jaipur Bench till she was repatriated to the Parent HC at Gujarat in Feb 2016.
Since then she was working as the Judge of Gujarat HC, till she was elevated as Judge of Supreme Court of India on 31st August, 2021.
With the appointment of Justice Trivedi as the Chairperson of the Mahanadi Water Dispute Tribunals, the impending water dispute between Chhattisgarh and Odisha is expected to be resolved soon.
