Police revealed on Monday that they have arrested a man- Nizamuddin Ali (28) in connection with the murder of a 27-year-old woman –his girl friend whose body was discovered dumped in a sack in Uran.

According to police reports, the accused, Nizamuddin Ali-a cab driver, was allegedly in a relationship with the deceased, Poonam Kshirsagar. Suspecting her of infidelity, Ali purportedly murdered her on April 24.

During their investigation, officers delved into missing person complaints in nearby areas and stumbled upon a case filed in Mankhurd on April 19.

The missing person matched the description of Poonam, and her family identified her body, recognizing her by hair clips and tattoos—a 'S' tattoo on her left thumb and a 'Suraj' tattoo on her right arm. Further inquiries revealed that she had been in a relationship with a taxi driver from Nagpada for four years.

Ali was apprehended from Mankhurd and subjected to interrogation, during which he allegedly confessed to the crime. Police assert that Ali admitted to strangulating the woman in his cab before disposing of her body in Chirner, Uran.
