In a statement issued on Wednesday, FWICE announced a renewed and comprehensive boycott of all Pakistani artists, singers, and technicians. The organization cited Fawad Khan’s involvement in Abir Gulaal as a violation of their directive, originally established in 2019 following the Pulwama attack that killed 40 CRPF personnel

New Delhi, April 24: Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s comeback film Abir Gulaal is facing a possible ban in India amid rising tensions following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam. According to sources from India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the film — which also stars Vaani Kapoor — will not be granted release in the country. This decision comes in the wake of strong objections raised by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), which has reiterated its stance against collaboration with Pakistani talent in the Indian entertainment industry.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, FWICE announced a renewed and comprehensive boycott of all Pakistani artists, singers, and technicians. The organization cited Fawad Khan’s involvement in Abir Gulaal as a violation of their directive, originally established in 2019 following the Pulwama attack that killed 40 CRPF personnel.

"Despite the ongoing directive, we’ve learned about the recent collaboration involving Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in the Hindi film Abir Gulaal," the statement read. "In light of the Pahalgam attack, FWICE is compelled to enforce a blanket boycott on all Pakistani artists, singers, and technicians associated with any Indian film or entertainment ventures, regardless of where these projects are produced or released."

Following the backlash, Fawad Khan shared a message on Instagram, extending his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss and stood in solidarity with those affected."Deeply saddened to hear the news of the heinous attack in Pahalgam. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this horrifying incident, and we pray for strength and healing for their families in this difficult time," Fawad posted.
