Bhubaneswar, April 2: The Odisha government is set to roll out the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the ‘Kanya Sumangala Yojana’ soon, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida informed.
The scheme, announced in the state budget, aims to provide financial security to girl children through an education-based support system. As per the proposal, a certain amount will be deposited in the girl’s name within one year of her birth.
Under the scheme, the beneficiary will receive a substantial amount, running into lakhs, in her bank account upon attaining the age of 21.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the detailed SOP is in the final stages and will be released shortly, after which the full framework of the scheme will become clear.
