Birla Global University formally inducted future legal professionals today

Birla Global University officially launched its academic session for the Birla School of Law during the Commencement Day Programme 2026 in Bhubaneswar. This ceremony welcomed students enrolled in both the five-year BBA LL.B. (Hons.) 2026–31 and the one-year LL.M. 2026–27 programs.

Bhubaneswar has rapidly evolved into eastern India's primary educational hub, pushing local institutions to elevate professional training standards to meet global demands. Leading this momentous event, former Orissa High Court Judge Justice Bijay Kumar Nayak addressed the incoming batch as Chief Guest. He reminded students that legal success requires much more than simply memorizing statutes. According to Justice Nayak, true legal accomplishment relies heavily on deep expertise, unshakeable honesty, and strong personal values. He noted that within the legal field, the sky is truly not the limit for dedicated professionals.

Industry Experts Advise Fresh Minds

Divyansh Joshi, Principal Associate at Khaitan & Co., attended as Guest of Honour and shared practical industry advice with the new cohort. He urged students to treat their mistakes as vital learning opportunities. Joshi pointed out that highly supportive environments, where asking questions is openly embraced, are rarely found after graduating. He advised future lawyers to observe carefully, think critically, and constantly learn from their peers and mentors. He specifically highlighted the need to leverage artificial intelligence and modern tools to drive personal growth.

Campus Leadership Outlines Future Expectations

Vice Chancellor Prof. Kulbhushan Balooni focused on the human element of legal practice. He instructed students to read widely beyond standard textbooks. Prof. Balooni stated that while technology and artificial intelligence might eventually match standard legal work, professionals will always stand out through sharp reasoning, human critical thinking, and a nuanced understanding of complex details.

Dean of the Birla School of Law, Prof. (Dr.) Sukanta K. Nanda, reassured attendees about the dynamic curriculum. He explained that the institution constantly adapts its syllabus to align perfectly with shifting industry demands, keeping graduates fully career-ready from day one.

Registrar Tanmay Kumar Pattanayak then offered his closing remarks. He told students that excellence offers no shortcuts.
