Koraput, May 2: Police on Thursday seized 505 kg of ganja valued at over Rs 50 lakh near Hanumal village under Machhakunda police limits in Odisha’s Koraput.
Acting on a tip-off, Machhakunda police raided a cashew jungle near Hanumal village and confiscated ganja packed in 15 polythene bags. However, the ganja mafias managed to escape. The contraband, weighing 505 kg and 200 grams, is estimated to be worth Rs 50 lakh. An investigation is underway.
In another incident in Kuchinda, Odisha’s Sambalpur, a police flying squad seized Rs 5 lakh from a scooter-borne individual near the old bus stand. The man failed to provide a satisfactory explanation to the police about the source of the cash and has been detained.
