Nuapada, June 23: Acting on a tip-off, police on Sunday night raided an illegal gambling den operating in the forested area near Saipala village under Nuapada police limits, leading to the arrest of five individuals and seizure of significant assets.
The raid, led by Nuapada IIC Gangadhar Meher, resulted in the confiscation of ₹61,000 in cash, five mobile phones, and five motorcycles from the spot.
Sources said the gambling activity had been taking place secretly in the area when the police team conducted the surprise operation. All five accused were taken into custody at the scene.
Later, on Monday morning, the arrested individuals were served notices and released from the police station, police officials confirmed.
