Ganjam, Feb 21: In connection with an unprecedented case, Berhampur police on Wednesday apprehended as many as four UP-based youths who were purportedly begging in the residential areas professing as divyangs.
The Police have remanded the fake- divyangs to judicial custody and seized some aids, essential for divyangs from their possession.
Police sources said, the healthy youths were begging alms in the Kamapalli residential areas pretending as physically impaired. Suspecting their dubious activities, locals informed police in this connection.
Based on the input, the police reached the spot and studies the beggars activities. During the investigation they were proved to be physically sound, having any disability at all.
A case has been registered in this connection. Interrogation is underway to rule out the youth’s involvement in robbery or dacoity, said police.
