Sundargarh, May 30: In a major crackdown on illegal wildlife hunting, the Forest Department conducted a series of raids in the villages of Khutia Bhagani, Sihidia, and Purunapani under the Kuliposha Range of the Bonai Forest Division. The operation led to the arrest of five poachers and the seizure of a large cache of illegal hunting equipment.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, forest officials led by Kuliposha Range Officer Suchismita Das raided multiple locations and recovered seven firearms, pangolin skin, deer antlers, and various hunting tools and traps.
According to forest officials, the seized items were being used for illegal poaching activities in the region. The raid is being hailed as a significant success in the department's ongoing efforts to curb wildlife crimes in the area.
Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend others who may be involved in the poaching network.
