Boudh, Aug 11: Amid a rising spate of thefts and robberies in Boudh district, local police have arrested four persons along with a minor in connection with a recent armed robbery case. Weapons, cash, and stolen items were recovered from the accused during the operation.

Following a complaint lodged by the victim on August 6 at Boudh Police Station, a special investigation team was formed. Intensive efforts led to the arrest of four adults and a minor. The arrested have been identified as Dilip Kalata (32) of Pankhimal village, Sudha alias Sudam Mahanandia (32) of Mundapada village, Shakti alias Tusharkant Behera (19), and Siddhant Bhabasagar (19), both of Bandhapathar village. One minor has also been apprehended in connection with the case.

Police seized a sword, two knives, one mobile phone, ₹28,500 in cash, and a set of clothes from the accused. All five were produced before the court on Monday.

In a separate but related development, another minor was arrested in connection with five theft cases. Police recovered a laptop, gold ring, tablet, water pump, ₹2.28 lakh in cash, a UPS, monitor, and several other items from the juvenile.

Present at the press briefing were SDPO Lawrence Raut Ray and Boudh Police Station IIC Ranjit Muni.
