Dhenkanal, Feb 22: Today marks the commencement of the renowned Joranda Mela, also known as Magha Mela at Mahima Gadi in Joranda in Odisha's Dhenkanal district.
This year's celebration marks the 151st Prabhupurnima Utsav at the gadi. While the traditional rituals of cleaning the temple premises have already commenced, the lighting of the Jhada Deepa (sacred lamp) is scheduled to take place by the Kaupindhari and Bakaldhari sadhus.
Official sources have assured that the district administration has made all necessary arrangements, including public amenities such as toilets and drinking water. Security measures have also been intensified to manage the crowds and ensure the smooth conduct of the mela.
