Rourkela, Mar 14: The family of a 55-year-old man who tragically lost his life in a road accident in Sundergarh town on Wednesday chose to donate his eyes, offering hope to others in need. Din Dayal Agarwal passed away in a road accident at Rani Bagicha Bypass under Town police station in Sundergarh.
Following the incident, Din Dayal's body was taken to Sundergarh district headquarters hospital for post-mortem, where doctors discussed the option of organ donation with his grieving family. With the consent of his son and other relatives, Din Dayal's eyes were donated, allowing doctors to retrieve them for transplantation.
Kisan Agarwal, Din Dayal's brother, shared, "Doctors and other staff encouraged us to donate his organs. We agreed immediately, and my brother's eyes were retrieved for the benefit of others. Though my brother is no longer with us, his eyes will enable someone else to see the world."
The act of generosity by Din Dayal's family enabled two individuals to gain a new perspective on life through the gift of sight. Doctors at the hospital expressed gratitude for the selfless decision made by the family. Dr. Pravasini, an ophthalmologist, remarked, "When the family came here for the post-mortem, I discussed the possibility of eye donation with them. Their consent allowed us to retrieve his eyes. I am deeply thankful to them for this noble act."
