Sonepur, Sept 3: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha police seized Fake Indian Currency Notes (FCIN) worth over Rs 41.16 Lakh in Ulunda area of Odisha’s Sonepur district and arrested one person in this connection.
The accused identified as Deepak Meher of Matikhai Nuabasti under Ulunda police limits has been forwarded to the Court of JMFC, Birmaharajpur.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the STF conducted a raid near Ulunda and seized the notes.
The seized notes are of the denominations of Rs 500 and meet many security features of a genuine note. They are said to be of good quality and will be sent to Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudrana Pvt. Ltd., Mudrana Nagar, Salaboni, Pachima Medinapore, West Bengal for examination and opinion.
It is suspected that these notes were brought from Chhattisgarh. There are more criminals involved in this racket. STF has got the vital clues and working on it to crack the entire scam and arrest all the perpetrators.
Till date STF has seized FICN of face value more than Rs 1.19 Crores including this seizure. However, earlier FICN were of low quality. In fact in the recent years, all FICN seized in Odisha were of low quality.
