Balasore, Jan 28: Eminent freedom fighter Ananta Charan Khatua passed away at 96 on Sunday.
He was a native of Nilagiri block in Odisha’s Balasore district.
Khatua had joined the Indian freedom movement at his early childhood. He was put behind the bars very often for his indomitable involvement in the war of independence.
A pall of gloom descended in Odisha after Khatua’s demise due to geriatric related ailments at his residence today.
Local leaders along with prominent persons thronged his residence to offer an adieu to the great soul.
