Jharsuguda, May 26: At least three persons have died of diarrhoea in Rampur block of Jharsuguda district.
The deceased have been identified as Milan Sahu, Damburudh Budha, and Basudev Tanti.
Milan died on May 18 at the Khaliakani Community Healthcare Center (CHC). Damburudh passed away on the 23rd of this month at the Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), and Basudev succumbed to diarrhoea yesterday.
In addition to the three fatalities, over 15 other individuals from the village have been affected to this disease.
Health authorities suspect that consumption of contaminated water is stated to be the reason behind the diarrhoea outbreak.
A medical team has already been deputed to the site to assess the situation. They have collected samples from the contaminated pond water and sent them for testing in order to identify the cause of the outbreak. The team is also working to provide immediate medical assistance to those affected by the outbreak.
Public health officials are urging residents to avoid drinking water from the suspected source and to take precautions until the cause is confirmed. The district administration is also closely monitoring the situation to ensure the health and safety of the villagers.
