Jajpur, June 13: While diarrhoea outbreak in Odisha’s Jajpur has been a concern for the state health department to contain, some samples collected from the vulnerable area, tested cholera positive.
Director Public Health, Odisha Dr Nilakantha Mishra informed in on Friday.
Dr Mishra, during a review meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary on the Water & Vector borne diseases said, as many as 41 samples of patients from the Jajpur cluster wherein diarrhoea is on the rise, as many as 8 samples tested Cholera positive. Cholera Bacteria are plentily found in the diagnosed samples.
Worth mentioning, diarrhoea outbreak in Jajpur district has claimed at least seven lives so far. Over 500 diarrhoea patients are now under treatment in various health facilities.
