Sambalpur, Oct 17: The presiding deity of Western Odisha – Maa Samaleswari appeared before the devotees in her majestic Raja Rajeswari Besha on occasion of Dhwajarohana Utsav and Kumar Purnima today.
The new flag will be raised atop the temple’s dome today with the sound of conches and bells accompanied by chants.
The sixteen-day Sharadiya Dusshera festival, which began on Mulastami, will culminate with the Dwajarohana Utsav.
Earlier, Maa Samaleswari appeared in her Dhabalamukhi Besha, marking the beginning of the Navratri festival.
Today, the temple’s priest will adorn Maa Samaleswari in her Raja Rajeswari Besha at around 1 pm on occasion of Kumar Purnima. Following the grand evening Arti, the Dhwajarohana Utsav will take place marking the conclusion of the festive celebration.
