Cyclonic circulation likely over Southern Bangladesh; Yellow warning issued for Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar, August 7: A cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over southern Bangladesh and its adjoining regions on August 8, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Under its influence, several parts of Odisha are expected to experience rainfall over the coming days.
On August 7, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in the districts of Keonjhar, Sambalpur, and Sundargarh. The IMD has issued a yellow warning for 20 districts across the state for the next 24 hours, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by rain in parts of both coastal and interior Odisha.
Looking ahead, heavy rainfall is predicted in Keonjhar and Sundargarh on August 8. Additionally, moderate to heavy showers are expected in select areas of coastal, interior, and southern Odisha.
Rainfall activity is set to intensify further from August 9 to 11, with widespread showers forecast across northern, coastal, and interior Odisha. In light of this, the IMD has extended the yellow alert for multiple districts until August 11.
