Balangir, July 19: A couple was held in Odisha’s Balangir district on Friday on the charges of killing own nephew over an impending land dispute.
The incident took place at Ainlasari village under the Puintala police limits in the district.
As per reports, a heated exchange of words ensued between the deceased, identified as Sameer Bhue, and his paternal uncle, Kalia Bhue, over a prolonged land-related dispute. It later took a violent turn when Kalia, in fit of rage, attacked Sameer.
Sameer sustained grave injuries in the attack leading to his death on the spot.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
During investigation it was revealed that Kalia Bhue and his wife had brutally killed their nephew with bamboo rods and other sharp weapons.
The duo was sent to judicial custody in the afternoon on the basis of a case registered in this connection.
