Nuapada, Oct 20: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate Snehangini Chhuria on Monday filed her nomination papers for the upcoming Nuapada Assembly by-election, scheduled for November 11.

Accompanied by senior party leaders including Prasanna Acharya, Pramila Mallick, and Tukuni Sahu, Chhuria submitted her nomination before the Returning Officer. The filing was conducted in a modest ceremony attended by around 30 to 40 leaders.

“I am confident of winning with the blessings of the people. I will reach out to every voter and seek their support,” Chhuria said after filing her papers.

The by-election has drawn considerable political attention, setting up a three-way contest among BJD’s Chhuria, BJP candidate Jay Dholakia — son of the late MLA Rajendra Dholakia — and Congress nominee Ghasiram Majhi. Both Dholakia and Majhi had submitted their nominations earlier.

With the nomination process concluding on Monday, the stage is now set for an intense electoral battle that will decide the future of the Nuapada Assembly seat. The outcome is expected to serve as a key indicator of political trends for all three major parties in the region.
