Bhubaneswar, Aug 11: The Crime Branch is set to take two key suspects into remand for further questioning in connection with the Special Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) question paper leak case.
Reports indicate that Jitan Maharana, a data entry operator, and Bijay Mishra, the working president of the State Ex-cadre Teachers' Association, will be interrogated over two days, from August 11 to 12.
So far, eight individuals have been arrested in connection with the paper leak, including Nihar Ranjan Mohanty, Vice-President of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE). Investigators have found that Mohanty had direct communication with Jitan Maharana, with over 100 calls exchanged between them outside of office hours. This raised suspicions regarding their possible involvement in the leak.
The OTET exam, originally scheduled for July 20, was canceled after a handwritten copy of the question paper was widely circulated on social media.
The Crime Branch has made several arrests during its investigation, which is still ongoing. Further developments and additional details are expected as the probe continues.
