Capital Medical College to be functional by July 31: Health Minister reviews progress

Bhubaneswar, June 26: The upcoming PGIMER Medical College within the Capital Hospital campus is set to become operational by July 31, according to Health Minister’s latest inspection. During a review meeting on-site, the minister assessed the ongoing infrastructure work and emphasized the government’s vision to make it the largest postgraduate medical college in Odisha.

In his statement, the Health Minister confirmed that 24 students will graduate in the first batch. Key facilities — including boys' and girls' hostels, the administrative block, and lecture theatres — are expected to be fully ready by the end of July.

Following directives from Chief Minister, the state is placing renewed focus on both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) medical education, aiming to transform the Capital Medical College into the state’s leading centre for medical education and training.

The review was attended by Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, PGIMER Director Dr. Sujata Mishra, and senior officials from the Health Department, who jointly evaluated the progress and preparedness of the institution.
