New Delhi, January 24: The All India Medical Students’ Association (AIMSA) has urged the Indian Embassy in Tehran to intervene after Indian students in Iran reported being unable to return home because universities are withholding their passports. AIMSA requested immediate action to secure the release of passports and asked authorities to consider evacuation if conditions worsen.

The appeal comes amid escalating unrest in Iran, where protests over economic decline and the fall of the Rial have led to internet shutdowns, communication curbs, and reports of violent crackdowns. Activists claim thousands have been killed. Tensions have further risen with warnings exchanged between Iran and the United States, raising fears of wider conflict.
