Pharma factory blast in Telangana: Odisha sends officers to help rescue ops for Odia workers

Bhubaneswar/ Telangana, Jul 2: The Odisha government has sent two officers to Telangana to help with the rescue efforts after a big explosion at a drug factory called Sigachi Pharma. This explosion killed at least 36 people and hurt many others, including some workers from Odisha.

 

The two officers sent are Pritish Panda and Dr. Chandra Sekhar Hota. Their job is to work with the rescue teams and help the Odia workers injured by the accident.

 

The government order stated that these officers were sent because of the fire accident at Sigachi Pharma Company in Sangareddy District, Telangana, on June 30, 2025.

 

The huge blast happened on Monday morning at the Sigachi Industries Limited factory, about 50 kilometers from Hyderabad. It occurred in the part of the factory that dries a material called Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC). Most of the people who died or were hurt were workers from states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha.

 

At the time of the explosion, 108 workers were inside the factory, and the blast caused a massive fire. People who saw it said the explosion was so powerful that workers were thrown into the air and landed many meters away.

 

Reports further stated that over 11 bodies have been handed over to family members after postmortem. These include three workers from Odisha – Rajanala Jaganmohan, Lagnajit Dawuri, and Manoj. Four others are Andhra Pradesh, one from Telangana and two from Bihar.
