Bhubaneswar, Jul 2: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi conducted a review of security arrangements in Puri on Tuesday, ensuring the smooth completion of the remaining rituals-'Bahuda Yatra,' 'Suna Besha,' and 'Niladri Bije' during the annual sojourn of the Lords at the Shree Jagannath Temple.
In the meeting, the CM emphasized the importance of accurate crowd estimation, particularly for the 'Suna Besha' ritual, which attracts a significant number of devotees.
"With favorable weather conditions, we expect a large influx of pilgrims, especially for Suna Besha. It is critical to manage security effectively during such a massive gathering and be prepared for any unexpected incidents," he stated.
Majhi also stressed the need for stricter control on passes to prevent overcrowding in the cordoned-off areas. He instructed the strategic deployment of additional police forces at key points to ensure the safety of the devotees and to enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) rigorously.
The CM further emphasized the importance of close coordination with the Maharana and Bhoi sevitors responsible for chariot pulling, ensuring smooth and safe operations during the rituals.
Special attention was also given to traffic control, with the CM urging officials to ensure the seamless execution of upcoming events. With thousands expected to visit the beach, he directed the fire department to coordinate with the police to safeguard public safety.
Majhi highlighted the importance of monitoring critical locations such as the Puri-Bhubaneswar road, the beach, the railway station, the bus stand, and the temple premises. He encouraged officials to carry out their duties with utmost diligence, stating, "This is not just a duty, it is a privilege and a matter of fortune. Serve with complete dedication and teamwork."
