Bhubaneswar, Jan 14: The body of a man with throat being slit was found at Sagua village under Balianta police limits on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar last night.
The deceased has been identified as Biswajit Nayak alias Babu (43).
Sources said Babu was residing in Bhubaneswar and running a hotel in VSS Nagar area in the city. He had come to the village couple of days ago and was living in a separate house instead of staying with his father.
On Saturday, Biswajit’s younger brother Ranjit called him over the phone which went unanswered. Thereafter, Ranjit asked one of his family members to visit the house where Biswajit was staying.
The relative, after reaching the house on Saturday evening, detected foul smell emanating from the house. When he peeped through the window, he saw Biswajit lying dead in a pool of blood covered by a blanket and alerted his family members and the police.
On getting the information, police arrived at the scene and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
Though the exact reason behind the man’s death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that he might have been murdered with a sharp-edged weapon.
An investigation has been initiated into the matter to ascertain the circumstances which led to Biswajit’s death, said the police.
