Bhubaneswar, May 18: Senior Congress leader Sachin today alleged that the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are two sides of the same coin and they are secretly collaborating to exploit the state’s resources and people.
Addressing a press meet at Congress Bhawan here, Pilot said although BJP and BJD are contesting elections separately, they effectively run a “double-engine government” in Odisha.
Pilot criticized the BJP for its lack of accountability regarding achievements at the national level over the past decade.
He labeled the BJD government as “non-performing” and highlighted rampant corruption in Odisha. Both parties, he claimed, share common interests, which have been evident in their actions.
In the ongoing election phases, the INDIA bloc (a coalition of opposition parties) has made progress, while the BJP has faced challenges in several northern states, including Rajasthan.
During an election rally in Balasore today, Pilot also criticized the central government, accusing it of undermining democratic institutions. He pointed out that bank accounts of the Congress were frozen, and two chief ministers were jailed.
Additionally, he expressed concern about the erosion of credibility in constitutional bodies due to the autocratic style of functioning under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Pilot concluded by emphasizing that people across the country are determined to change the government at the Centre, disappointed by unfulfilled promises of “acche din” (good days) made by the BJP.
