Patna, April 13: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ramkripal Yadav confirmed on Monday that the decision on Bihar's next Chief Minister will be made in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting scheduled for Tuesday.
Yadav mentioned that the upcoming cabinet meeting would be the final one under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
"This will be the last cabinet meeting under Nitish Kumar's leadership tomorrow. Over the past two decades, Bihar has made significant strides in development under his guidance. He has left an indelible legacy through his work. The new government that will take shape will do so under his mentorship, continuing to work for the welfare of the people of Bihar," Yadav stated.
Meanwhile, outgoing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to preside over a crucial Cabinet meeting on April 14. Sources suggest that the meeting may see the approval of several significant proposals and could potentially mark the final session of the current Council of Ministers. After the meeting, Nitish Kumar is expected to step down from the position of Chief Minister.
In a related development, Janata Dal (United) Working President and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha reiterated Nitish Kumar's unwavering commitment to Bihar's development, even in the absence of the Chief Minister’s post. Jha emphasized that the 2025-30 mandate would be contested under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, with the support of the NDA. He assured that the policies of the new government would reflect Nitish Kumar’s vision for the state.
"The NDA supported us during the 2025-30 election campaign under Nitish Kumar's leadership, and the new government will carry forward his policies. Even if he is not the Chief Minister, Nitish Ji’s focus remains on Bihar, and he will continue to guide the state, only traveling to Delhi for Parliament sessions," Jha remarked.
Nitish Kumar had taken the oath as a Rajya Sabha MP on April 10, marking a new chapter in his political journey.
