New Delhi, December 3: IndiGo, India's largest airline, canceled over 100 flights and experienced significant delays on Wednesday due to a crew shortage. The airline announced that it would adjust its schedule over the next 48 hours to normalize operations.

The disruptions were caused by a combination of factors, including minor technology issues, adverse weather, increased congestion, and the implementation of new crew rostering rules. These challenges led to cancellations and delays at major airports like Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Hyderabad.

IndiGo, which typically operates around 2,300 flights daily, blamed the crew shortage on the second phase of the Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) rules, which restrict night landings and extend rest periods for flight crews. These new norms were implemented starting on November 1, after being delayed for over a year.

The airline has apologized for the inconvenience, and affected passengers are being offered alternate travel arrangements or refunds. Operations are expected to stabilize in the next two days.
