Balasore, May 3:Balasore Police on Friday arrested a brown sugar peddler from the Jaleswar area for illegal trading of the contraband.
At least 264 gram of brown sugar valued at Rs 24 lakh was seized from him.
Balasore SP Sagarika Nath in a press briefing said, sleuths of the Jaleswar police with a reliable tip off regarding brown sugar trafficking , were spying near the Ambiliatha Chhak in the evening. A deliberate offender who hails from the Rajpur area reached the spot with brown sugar to strike a deal with the customers. Meanwhile, police caught him red-handed and seized the contraband from his possession.
Apart from it, the police seized huge cache of cash, mobile phone, two ATM Cards and a scooter from him. The accused held today was earlier apprehended in connection with another NDPS case which is still pending in the Jaleswar police station, Nath added.
