Sydney, Aug 22: Remember Lisa Carprini Sthalekar?
The Indian-born-Aussie, who led Australia women cricket team and post her retirement, she is busy gaining applause as a TV commentator and broadcaster.
But why LIsa Sthalekar, the Australian cricketer with roots in Maharashtra is being discussed?
The reason is perhaps more Indian origin young women are vying to become famous and able like Sthalekar in future. They have proved their mettle in selection trials and have earned their berths in Australia's national women Under 19 squad.
Recently, Cricket Australia has picked three Indian-origin girls - Hasrat Gill, Ribya Syan and Samara Dulvin in the squad for the upcoming Women's Under-19 Tri-series. They would be playing against New Zealand and Sri Lanka teams. The tri-series will start from September 19 in Brisbane.
As per their playing roles, Samara Dulvin is a batter, who has played for Australia Women's U-19 Team. Similarly, Hasrat Gill too is a bowler who has represented Australia in U-19 matches against England and Sri Lanka. The third young lady Ribya Syan is a fast-bowling all-rounder from Victoria.
Though it is bit too early to predict, but chances of these girls representing Australia senior women's team in future cannot be ruled out.
Who knows they can be as potent, successful and famous as Lisa Carprini Sthalekar in future!
