In its highly anticipated "Awe-Dropping" September event, Apple has officially unveiled its next generation of flagship devices, led by a completely new and ultra-slim premium smartphone, the iPhone Air. The stunning new model was launched alongside a comprehensively upgraded iPhone 17 series, the feature-packed AirPods Pro 3, and a refreshed lineup of Apple Watches, all deeply integrated with the company's new "Apple Intelligence" platform. The event showcased a major hardware refresh across all key categories, with pre-orders for the new devices set to begin this week ahead of their September 19 release in India.
The most significant announcement of the evening was the introduction of the iPhone Air, a device that carves out a new premium niche between the standard iPhone 17 and the high-end Pro models. As its name suggests, the Air is the slimmest and lightest iPhone to date, a feat of engineering designed for users who prioritize elegance and portability without compromising on power. It features a vibrant 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion technology and is powered by the new, top-of-the-line A19 Pro chip. The device also boasts a formidable triple-camera system, headlined by a 48-megapixel main sensor. The iPhone Air will start at ₹1,19,900 in India for the base 256GB model.
The rest of the iPhone lineup also received significant enhancements. The standard iPhone 17 now features a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, a feature previously reserved for the Pro models, and is protected by a more durable Ceramic Shield 2. It runs on the new A19 chip and comes equipped with an upgraded 48-megapixel Fusion dual-camera system.
The top-tier iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models cement their status as the ultimate tools for power users and content creators. Both devices are powered by the A19 Pro chip and feature a redesigned titanium build. Their upgraded camera systems now support ProRAW and 8K video recording, with the Pro Max model introducing Apple's longest-ever optical zoom at an impressive 6x. The iPhone 17 Pro will start at ₹1,34,900, while the Pro Max begins at ₹1,49,900.
Apple also introduced a major update to its premium earbuds with the AirPods Pro 3. The redesigned buds offer a more secure fit and introduce groundbreaking new health features, including the ability to track the wearer's heart rate during workouts. A new "Live Translation" feature promises to facilitate real-time conversations in different languages. The active noise cancellation has been made twice as effective, and the battery life has been extended to eight hours.
The Apple Watch lineup was also refreshed across the board. The new Apple Watch Series 11 now features 5G connectivity, a new Hypertension alert, and an enhanced Sleep Score, all powered by an extended 24-hour battery life. The rugged Apple Watch Ultra 3 gets a brighter display and improved tracking for expeditions, while the entry-level Apple Watch SE now includes an Always-On Retina Display and temperature sensing. The event was rounded out with a new collection of accessories, including an ultra-slim case designed specifically for the new iPhone Air.
