Bhubaneswar, Dec 2: Leaves of field-level officials of the Agriculture department working in as many as five districts are cancelled ahead of the possible cyclonic storm.
The Agriculture Department on Saturday issued letters to the corresponding District Agriculture Officers (DAO) and the Deputy Directors of Horticulture, to ensure the presence of the field staff during the possible Cyclonic storm 'Michaung'.
The DAOs are also alerted to brace up preparedness for protecting paddy and other standing crops during the adverse weather.
The letter issued by the Principal Secretary in this connection read, the holiday on Sunday(3rd December) is hereby cancelled for the field official working in Malkangiri, Korput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam districts.
The officials are also asked to remain in high alert during 2nd Dec to 6th December which is the warning period, according to the IMD’s newscast.
