Bhubaneswar, May 9: In light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, airports across multiple Indian states have been placed on high alert, with heightened security protocols implemented to prevent any potential threats. Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar is among the facilities where security has been significantly tightened.
Officials confirmed that all passengers are undergoing rigorous identification checks, and additional security personnel have been deployed to monitor movements within the airport premises.
The increased alert follows Pakistan's aggressive response to India's recent military operation, codenamed Operation Sindoor. Reports indicate that Pakistan has been targeting Indian military installations, strategic assets, and civilian areas in a series of retaliatory attacks.
On Wednesday, Pakistan reportedly launched rocket attacks on several locations in Jammu. In response, security sirens were activated at Jammu Airport, and a regional blackout was enforced as a precautionary measure. The Indian Army swiftly retaliated, delivering what military sources described as a “strong and fitting response.”
