Jharsuguda, Sept 11: Tension ran high at Gobindpur toll gate on National Highway 49 under Rengali police jurisdiction in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district on Thursday after one of its employee was run over and killed by a four-wheeler carrying cattle.

The deceased has been identified as Anil Kumar Patel, a resident of Kadambini village.

As per reports, a speeding Scorpio, carrying cattle, ran over the toll gate employee in the early hours of Thursday.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.

The vehicle involved in the accident was also confiscated, and six smuggled cattle were rescued. However, the suspects involved in the cattle smuggling managed to escape.

A probe has been launched into the matter and a manhunt is underway to nab the absconding accused, said the police.
