
Kendrapara, Sept 20: The body of a woman, who had been dragged into a river by a saltwater crocodile within the Bhitarkanika National Park area in Odisha’s Kendrapara district, was recovered early Saturday morning.
The deceased woman, identified as Laxmi Dalei, was dragged into a river by a saltwater crocodile near Suniti Benakanda village under Mahakalpada block in the district.
As per reports, the woman was standing near the riverbank when a saltwater crocodile suddenly attacked and dragged her into the water. Despite prompt efforts by locals to search for her, she remained missing.
Her body was recovered from the river on Saturday morning and sent for a post-mortem.
Forest officials have started an awareness campaign in the area, warning residents to remain vigilant around water bodies.
