Bhubaneswar, June 5: As the sacred festivals of Snana Purnima and Ratha Yatra draw near, the Puri Police has reviewed up preparations to ensure the safety and smooth movement of devotees. A high-level security review meeting was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Central IG S Praveen Kumar to assess and finalize the arrangements.
During the meeting, the Central IG emphasized that maintaining law and order during the festivities is a top priority. He announced that 70 platoons of police force and 450 officers, including four SP-rank commandants, will be deployed across Puri to manage crowd control, security, and traffic.
To further bolster surveillance, AI-enabled CCTV cameras will be installed at key locations, and the police control room is being upgraded for better coordination and monitoring.
The police are also working closely with local hotels, having collected guest data to enhance situational awareness. A dedicated squad has been formed to oversee hotel security throughout the festival period.
With Snana Purnima slated for June 11, the city is bracing for a massive influx of devotees. The IG assured that comprehensive arrangements are in place to ensure a peaceful and well-organized celebration for all.
