Puri, June 24: A serious allegation has surfaced regarding the theft of Dashamula Modaks from the Srimandir Garada office, which were meant for ritual use during the Anabasara period of Lord Jagannath and sibling deities. A formal complaint has been filed with the District Collector, raising concerns over the missing sacred offerings.

According to reports, 313 amunia Dashamula Modaks were prepared and supplied by the Rajvaidya for ceremonial application on Trinity. However, during the observance of Anabasara Ekadashi on the night of June 21, it was discovered that 70 Modaks were missing.

The missing items came to light during the scheduled ritual in which the Dashamula Modak is traditionally offered to Lord Jagannath and sibling deities. The incident has sparked outrage, particularly due to the possibility that defective Modaks may have been used in the offering.

Reacting to the incident, Haladhara Das Mahapatra, the Badagrahi (ritual servitor) of Lord Balabhadra, has demanded immediate action. In a strongly worded letter addressed to the Chief Administrator of Srimandir, he called for accountability and strict measures against those responsible for the lapse.

Copies of the complaint have also been sent to the Deputy Chief Administrator of Srimandir Command and the District Collector for further investigation and appropriate action.

Authorities are expected to initiate an inquiry into the matter, as concerns grow over security and sanctity within the temple premises.
