Jeypore, Sept 27: A record of around 65 lakh tourists visited Koraput district during the last seven years, including over 14,000 foreigners.
Over 25 lakh tourists have visited Gupteswar, the cave shrine of Lord Shiva.
The state government has listed 13 places in the district as tourist places. According to government data, a total of 64,46,438 tourists visited, Gupteswar, Subai, Nandapur, Duduma, Sunabeda, Jalaput, Koraput, Bagara, Deomali, Gulami like places between 2016 and 2022, including 14,080 foreigners.
Gupteswar witnessed the highest 25,52,021 tourist footfall while 1,79,201 people visited Subai.
Similarly, Nandapur witnessed 5,01,004 visitors, Duduma 3,89,101, Sunabeda 5,11,620, Jalaput 1,30,420, Koraput 8,13,209, Bagara 2,90,911 and Deomali saw 6,38,009 tourists during this period.
Among other places, Gulami saw 2,30,811 tourists, Kechala 1,10,020, Raja Cave 44,804 and Balda Cave 90,208.
The interstate bus facilities and well connected train route attracting tourist from neighbouring states to the district throughout the year.
