Bolangir, June 17: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi is set to attend a major state-level farmers' convention at Patharchepa Padia in Bolangir district today. The event is being organized to mark the BJP-led government’s one-year completion in the state and the 11th year of the BJP-led government at the Centre.
More than 20,000 farmers are expected to participate in this large gathering. Preparations by the district administration are reportedly in their final stages.
The Chief Minister will be the chief guest at the event, joined by Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, and other local MLAs. The programme will begin around 10:00- 11:00 am and continue until 3:00 pm.
To create awareness among farmers, over 15 stalls have been set up at the venue where successful farmers will share their experiences and practices. Tight security arrangements have been made in anticipation of the Chief Minister’s arrival.
The event has generated hope among the farming community for new announcements and support schemes. People expect the Chief Minister to unveil fresh initiatives aimed at boosting agriculture in the region.
This will be CM Majhi’s second visit to Bolangir district since taking office. On November 2 last year, during his previous tour, he had launched and laid the foundation stones for projects worth crores of rupees, including the Patnagarh Bypass, Upper Lanth Irrigation Project, Patnagarh Hospital, and several road widening works.
With the BJP-led "double engine" government now in place, both at the Centre and the State, significant initiatives have been taken to support farmers. Bolangir district cultivates paddy, cotton, sugarcane, and vegetables. The local people also hope for announcements related to setting up a cotton industry and reviving the Deogaon sugar mill.
Given the scale and importance of the event, the district eagerly awaits the Chief Minister’s visit, anticipating key decisions for the future of agriculture in the region.
