Koraput, March 7: In a tragic incident, three Class X students drowned while bathing in a reservoir in Odisha’s Koraput district on Saturday.
The incident took place in the Kolab reservoir near the Landiguda village this afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Swastik, Lingaraj & Om Prakash. All are Class X students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Koraput situated at Landiguda.
According to reports, the three students appeared the last session of the CBSE Exam today. Following this, they visited the Kolab Dam to bathe. Meanwhile, they went missing and were accidentally swept deep into the reservoir.
On being informed, police with fire service teams initiated a rescue operation but in vain. After an hour-long search operation, their bodies were fished out from the water.
Police have initiated an investigation in this connection, to ascertain the underlying reason behind the students’ outing from the residential school.
