Puri, Nov 21: Lakhs of devotees from all over Odisha and other states throng Lord Gopianth Temple at Sakhigopal in Puri today on the holy occasion of Aanla Navami to have a glimpse of the lotus feet of Goddess Radha.

Amala Navami is the only day on which devotees can have darshan of the feet of Goddess Radha as her feet remain hidden under her dress throughout the year.

It is believed, the Radha Pada Darshan on Aanla Navami leads to Moksha (salvation). On the auspicious occasion, Goddess Radharani is adorned in special attire called Odiani Besha while Lord Krishna is dressed in Natabar Besha.

On this day, married women also offer conches, red bangles, sacred threads, vermilion and diyas to the Amla tree praying for the wellbeing of their husbands. 

We eagerly wait to have darshan of the lotus feet of Goddess Radha throughout the year. Though we visit the temple twice or thrice in a month, we never miss to visit on Radha Pada Darshan. It is one of the special occasions f Sakhigopal. Devotees from everywhere come to see the unique darshan and to get the blessing of lord Gopinath and Goddess Radha, said Chittaranjan Ratha of Vira Govindapur in Puri district.

"I have been coming to Lord Gopinath temple in Sakhigopal since last 10 years. It is believed that, the Radha Pada Darshan on the auspicious occasion of Aanla Navami leads to Moksha and it is the only day when you will get to see the Odiyani Besha of Goddess Radha and Natabara Besha of Lord Krishna, said Partha Mishra of Rayakhandi village under Satyavadi block in Puri district.
