Youth trampled to death by tusker in Rairakhol Forest Division

Rairakhol, June 17: A youth was killed in a tusker attack in the Badbahal Range of Rairakhol Forest Division, triggering panic among residents in the area.

The deceased has been identified as Narendra Pradhan of Tapursinga village under Kishorenagar police limits in Angul district. According to reports, Narendra had visited San Nuapada village on Tuesday and was returning home at around 11 pm when the incident occurred.

Sources said Narendra came in contact with a tusker while passing through the area. The elephant allegedly attacked him, tossed him to the ground and trampled him to death on the spot.

On being informed, Forest Department officials and police personnel rushed to the scene and initiated an investigation. The body was later recovered and sent for further procedures.

The incident has spread fear among villagers, with many residents reluctant to step out of their homes. Locals have urged the Forest Department to take immediate measures to drive the elephant back into the forest and prevent further human casualties.
