Bhubaneswar, July 21: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday apprehended a woman Revenue Inspector (RI) in Sundargarh district.
According to a Vigilance communique, Anita Jena, Revenue Inspector of Kalosihiria circle under Kuarmunda Tahasil of Sundargarh was apprehended by the anti-graft sleuths while she was demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 4,000 from an applicant for issuing the demarcation report of his ancestral land.
The complainant had applied for demarcation report a few months back. Despite repeated requests, accused Jena was not paying any heed to it and demanded bribe Rs 4,000 to issue the report.
Upset over the illegal approach of the RI, the complainant reported the matter to Vigilance authorities narrating harassment by accused Revenue Inspector.
“Following this, today, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Smt. Jena, RI, while taking bribe Rs. 4,000/- from the complt. The entire tainted bribe money Rs.4,000/- has been recovered from the possession of accused Smt. Jena and seized,” it said.
Meanwhile, following the trap, simultaneous searches were underway at three locations linked to Jena on possible disproportionate assets.
In this connection, a case was also registered against the lady RI U/s.7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Further investigation underway.
