Bhubaneswar, Jan 27: A woman in the capital city fell victim to a digital fraudster, who managed to siphon off ₹30 lakh from her accounts.

According to police reports, the accused contacted the woman claiming to be an official from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). He allegedly threatened her, stating that her SIM card was being misused in various criminal activities. Under pressure, the woman transferred ₹30 lakh across three different bank accounts.

Following a complaint at the Bhubaneswar Cyber Police Station, the cybercriminal was apprehended in Uttar Pradesh. The arrested individual has been identified as Gulipagi Chiranjib.

Police have seized two mobile phones, an ATM card, a cheque book, a PAN card, and an Aadhaar card from the accused.
