Puri, Sept 10: A ‘Bada Mahasnan’ was performed for Lord Jagannath at the Srimandir in Puri on Thursday after vomit was reportedly found near the Bhitarakatha area of the temple.
According to the Srimandir administration, the incident occurred during Bhitarakatha Darshan after the morning Dhupa ritual.
Some servitors reportedly noticed vomit lying near the Bhitarakatha area.
Following the incident, the rituals of the deities were temporarily suspended and the Bada Mahasnan ritual was performed as per temple tradition.
The special purification ritual led to a temporary halt in public darshan at the temple.
Devotees were asked to wait until the Mahasnan ritual was completed.
The Srimandir administration said that public darshan would resume after the completion of the Mahasnan ritual.
