Varun Chakaravarthy and Raghuvanshi Power KKR to a Dominant Win over SRH

Kolkata Knight Riders secured a dominant seven-wicket win today.

Kolkata Knight Riders successfully chased down 166 runs to defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday. This clinical performance ended Hyderabad's five-match winning run and propelled Kolkata further up the points table.

Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad appeared set for a formidable total as Travis Head struck a ferocious 61 off just 28 deliveries. Alongside Ishan Kishan, who contributed 42, the hosts reached 105/1 by the ninth over. However, the introduction of Varun Chakaravarthy shifted the momentum entirely. The mystery spinner dismantled the middle order, finishing with impressive figures of 3/36. Sunil Narine provided expert support with 2/31, causing the home side to lose nine wickets for only 60 runs. Hyderabad eventually folded for 165 in 19 overs, marking the first time they were bowled out this season.

Kolkata’s response began with a flurry of boundaries from Finn Allen, who hammered 29 off 13 balls. Following Allen's exit, Angkrish Raghuvanshi took charge of the innings. The young batter played with maturity, scoring 59 runs off 47 balls, including five boundaries and two sixes. He shared a steadying 84-run partnership with captain Ajinkya Rahane, who scored a composed 43.

Winning Momentum for Kolkata

Victory was sealed with 10 balls to spare as Rinku Singh finished the game with consecutive boundaries. This result is significant for the visitors as they secure their third consecutive win after a difficult start to the season. Historically, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium has favored teams that adapt quickly to the slowing nature of the pitch in the second half of the game, a factor KKR exploited perfectly.
