Bhubaneswar, Sep 18: A question paper leak allegation has surfaced at Utkal University after a Plus III Second Semester Commerce question paper was allegedly circulated on WhatsApp ahead of the scheduled examination.
The university has lodged a police complaint and initiated steps to trace the source of the alleged leak.
The Plus III Second Semester examinations began on September 12 and are being conducted across around 300 affiliated colleges, with a large number of students appearing for the tests. The examinations are scheduled to conclude on September 24.
The allegations emerged on Friday, claiming that a Commerce question paper had been circulated on social media before the examination held on Thursday, September 17.
Taking cognizance of the allegation, Utkal University lodged a complaint at Sahid Nagar Police Station seeking to trace the source of the alleged leak. The university also said it may approach the Cyber Police Station, if required.
Utkal University Controller of Examinations Hrushikesh Nayak said the university acted promptly after receiving information about the alleged circulation of the paper.
“On the allegation of the Commerce question paper being leaked on social media, we have lodged a complaint to find out the source of the leak. We have not received any information regarding the leak from any of the colleges conducting the examination across the State,” Nayak said.
Meanwhile, the Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has criticised the BJP-led government in Odisha over the alleged leak in the Utkal University Plus III Second Semester examination.
The BJD alleged that Odisha had witnessed at least 25 instances involving examination failures, cancellations, postponements, question-paper irregularities and other examination-related lapses during the two years of BJP rule.
