Two youths from Odisha's Malkanagiri arrested in Hyderabad with 900 Kg of ganja worth Rs 2.7 crore seized

 

Bhubaneswar/ Hyderabad, October 23: In a major crackdown on an interstate drug trafficking network, police in Hyderabad seized 908.41 kg of ganja, worth Rs 2.7 crore, and arrested three individuals, including two from Odisha’s Malkangiri district.

The operation targeted a syndicate involved in trafficking drugs between Malkangiri, Odisha, and Maharashtra via Hyderabad.

The arrests were made on October 22, when police intercepted a lorry at Bandlaguda. Along with the substantial haul of ganja, the vehicle's driver and two accomplices were apprehended.

 According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East Zone), S. Chaitanya Kumar, the arrested suspects revealed during interrogation that they were working for a major drug transporter. Acting on the transporter’s orders, they had traveled to Kalimela in Odisha, loaded the illegal cargo, and were en route to deliver it to a recipient in Nashik, Maharashtra.
