G. Udayagiri, Ap 24: Residents of G. Udayagiri were thrown into fear after two tuskers wandered into the town and onto the national highway. The elephants’ loud trumpeting kept people indoors and disrupted normal life in the area.
The pachyderms reportedly moved through residential areas, damaging several trees and crops in their path. Traffic on the highway was temporarily halted as the animals roamed near homes.
The G. Udayagiri Forest Department reached the site and began efforts to drive the elephants away safely. To monitor their movements, forest officials deployed drone cameras to track the elephants’ location and assess the situation.
Forest authorities, led by Manikeshwari Pattnayak, have organized two teams and additional staff to guide the elephants away from human settlements and the national highway. Efforts are underway to ensure the animals return to their natural habitat without causing further damage or posing risks to the local population.
